About Us

Founded in 1995, we are a friendly, non-auditioned choir of about 80 men and women. We meet once a week on Monday evenings during school term time to rehearse for an hour and a half from 8pm - 9:30pm.

We are a registered charity (number 1114655).

About the Conductor

Richard Blackford studied at the Royal College of Music and is much in demand as a conductor and composer. A former director of music for the Royal Ballet, during which time he conducted many choral performances, he has been a frequent conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus, recording his cantata Mirror of Perfection with them for Sony Classical. He has recorded for the BBC, Hessischer Rundfunk, ZDF, RAI as well as labels Decca, Argo and Warner Classics. In 2000, his four hour score for the BBC ten part series Millennium was nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Achievement in Music. Richard lives locally in Blewbury, where last year he conducted Britten's Noye's Fludde. For more information, see www.blackford.co.uk.
