Founded in 1995, we are a friendly, non-auditioned choir based in South Oxfordshire. We perform two or three times a year in churches and other venues in and around Wallingford, Oxfordshire. We are a registered charity.
Rehearsals start at 8pm on January 6th. This term we will be singing a selection of well-known Handel choruses including parts of Messiah, Zadok the Priest and much much more. The concert is planned for May 16th so that should give us plenty of time to get our heads round the music.
Music will be provided in the form of a very nice book which will be yours to keep, at the very reasonable price of £10 (it's £16 in the shops!). So don't forget to bring money to the first practice.
Handel Chorus Concert
Early in the new year 2020 we will start rehearsing for our Handel Chorus Concert, to be performed in Wallingford St Mary’s on Saturday 16th May, possibly supported once again by The Willow Ensemble.
On Sunday July 12th The Really Big Chorus is performing the same programme, in The Royal Albert Hall. Chris de Souza is the presenter of the concert, playing Mr Handel himself, and it is hoped that a number of society members will want to buy tickets to be part of the performance.
For more information visit the Royal Albert Hall site here.
Beethoven's 250th Anniversary
Our programme for 2020 will include our own celebration of Beethoven's 250th anniversary and will include:
Beethoven Mass in C
Beethoven Choral Fantasia.
We are really looking forward to seeing everyone again for what promises to be a wonderful year of music.
New members can attend three rehearsals for free before deciding if they'd like to join the choral society and pay the term's subscription
