Founded in 1995, we are a friendly, non-auditioned choir based in South Oxfordshire. We perform two or three times a year in churches and other venues in and around Wallingford, Oxfordshire. We are a registered charity.
We hope it will be possible to start rehearsals again in September (or maybe even August).
The current plan is to start learning Beethoven's Mass in C in the autumn, as well as keeping going on the Handel music we were learning last term, with a view to doing a concert of both some time around Christmas.
2020 is the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth so it would be lovely to perform the Mass in C in 2020 if we can.
Handel Chorus Concert
On Sunday July 12th The Really Big Chorus is performing the Hallelujah Handel! programme, in The Royal Albert Hall. Chris de Souza is the presenter of the concert, playing Mr Handel himself, and it is hoped that a number of society members will want to buy tickets to be part of the performance. This does not seem to have been cancelled yet - but who knows what will be happening in July.
For more information visit the Royal Albert Hall site here.
Beethoven's 250th Anniversary
Our programme for 2020 will include our own celebration of Beethoven's 250th anniversary and will include Beethoven's Mass in C
We are really looking forward to seeing everyone again in the autumn to refresh the Handel music we were learning last term and start on the Beethoven.
Hopefully, we'll know in a month or two if this will be possible.
New members can attend three rehearsals for free before deciding if they'd like to join the choral society and pay the term's subscription
